Our Story

Our Story

AJ and Jasmine met in February 2015 through a mutual friend while Jasmine was living with family in the Bay Area. Initially, their meeting seemed ordinary, but through shared interests, they easily grew a friendship. By October 2015, after their first trip to the Big Island, they finally decided to make it official. Shortly after, in December, Jasmine fully invaded AJ's space in a tiny bedroom under the stairs.

As the early years went on (and their spaces got bigger), they found themselves checking the boxes they always talked about- AJ completed his time in the Army National Guard, Jasmine graduated from SF State, and, at some point, they found themselves driving cross-country to get their first fur baby. 6 months later, they rescued their second.

Their relationship continued to grow and AJ's love for Jasmine only deepened over time. He soon realized another big box was ready to be checked. On January 20, 2023, at the first light of sunrise, after a killer speech, AJ dropped to one knee on the peak of Haleakalā and asked her to marry him. In-between sobs, she gladly accepted.

Today, we are planning our wedding with our favorite people in mind, on an island that means a whole lot to us. While we celebrate this major milestone, we also want to share some of what we love, with who we love, because we simply would not be who we are without you all.

We hope to see you there.

"When I think of my life 30... 40... 50 years from now, it always includes you in it."

AJ - Proposal

Honeymoon Fund

We've decided not to have a registry since we both don't know what we even want as gifts. Instead, please donate to our Honeymoon Fund!

10% of the fund will be donated back to the island of Maui in the form of cash donations to organizations that will help preserve the culture, land, and heritage of the Hawaiian people.

FAQs

I've never been to Maui- what airport am I flying into?

Kahului (OGG) Airport is the primary airport on the island of Maui and receives both overseas and interisland flights. Please use this airport to fly to our wedding.

How should I get around? Should I rent a car?

Renting a car is recommended to get around the island. Uber & Lyft are both available but are limited compared to the mainland.

What side of the island should I stay on?

We will be staying in Kaʻanapali and recommend our guests stay in this area as well. We do ask that our guests be mindful of Lahaina, which is still recovering from the 2023 fires.

Are kids invited?

While we absolutely adore your little ones, we are kindly requesting that our celebration be adults only.

Will there be transportation provided the day of the wedding?

Yes! We will have shuttles that will take our guests to and from the venue. Please note that pick-up locations will be determined after we get a feel for where everyone will be staying. Depending on where you're staying for the weekend, you may have to drive to/from the pickup locations. Shuttles will also run on a schedule. There will be no pick-ups or drop-offs outside of what is scheduled. If you feel more comfortable with driving, the venue does have limited parking spaces available, so please plan accordingly.

Is there anything else I should know?

With the recent Lahaina fires, we are trying to be mindful about where we go on the island. We would love for our guests to give back to the small businesses in Lahaina (and throughout the island), while also being respectful of the area that is still recovering. If you are interested in volunteering while you are there, here are some helpful resources-

What should I wear?

In the spirit of islands, we would appreciate it if you came in your best Hawaiian Cocktail outfit! Please no shorts... Jazzy will kill you.
